Q&A What are subscription databases?

The library recommends subscription online databases because they are a collection of reliable resources such as...

  • respected magazines and newspapers
  • scholarly journals
  • books
  • newswire services
  • image and video libraries

Start with Student Resources in Context.  Find primary sources, articles from journals, images, and videos!

Opposing Viewpoints

This database will  give you both sides of an issue and provide lots of information about Supreme Court cases.

Useful books in the Library

Check the Resource List entitled Supreme Court Cases in Destiny, the online library catalog.

  • Search by subject or keyword for best results.
  • The power search tab will help you define your searches.
  • Once you have located the books, remember to use the table of contents, glossary, and index to find the information you need.  The title page will give you the citation information.  Grab a source form from the library to record your information or download a source form here.

eBooks from the Gale Virtual Library.

Try our ebooks!  They are available 24/7 to all SCHS students.

Recommended Search Engine

If you absolutely can't find anything in the databases, try Sweet Search instead of Google.

Cite your Sources!

You  need to acknowledge your sources, so make sure they are reliable. Consult the SCHS Library "Cite it Right"  if you have any questions.
