1984/Brave New World Essay

In both 1984 and Brave New World, the reader is presented with each author’s warning of what the future could be.  That future is now.

In a well-organized, 8-10 page essay, evaluate which author’s vision of the future is the more accurate depiction, using at least 10 pieces of

evidence from each of the texts, as well specific examples from historical and current events, along with your own personal observations and

understanding of contemporary society.  Keep in mind that, while you are evaluating each novel’s representation of the future, your task is also to analyze

how each author uses liberary elements such as characterization, diction, imagery and syntax to create their respective versions of the future.

Your essay is due at 11:59pm on Thursday, April 28th on turnitin.com.  Your hard copies will be due in class on Friday, April 29th.  I expect a

demonstration of thoughtful analysis and depth of understanding; simple summaries are neither.

Typed rough draft – Wednesday April 13th.
